Anyone can say they are green, but Lux is working to be green! As one of the first companies in the DC area to recycle old carpeting, we have setup a collection facility at the Lux Distribution Center to collect, sort, and bale old carpeting in preparation for recycling. If you have old carpeting you would like us to haul away, please contact us. Your carpeting can be made into everyday products we use. The following is a list of materials extracted from Carpet Recycling:
- 66.7% of your old carpet is used to make fencing, decking, roofing, siding, shoe soles, insoles, and car paneling systems.
- 31.3% of your carpet is used to create textiles, clothing, new carpet, draperies, plumbing pipes, and wire insulation systems.
- 2% of your carpet is non-recyclable and is usually diverted from the landfill by being burned as fuel for energy.
