Carpet is a wonderful material to install on your floors. It is soft and quiet to walk on. It provides insulation against the cold and also prevents users from slipping and falling.
Carpet is made mainly from three specific materials - Olefin, Polyester and Nylon. These materials have different characteristics that set them apart. Here is a breakdown of the different aspects of carpet.
Olefin - Spot and Stain resistant. Easy to clean.
Polyester - is softer than Olefin. Same material used to make clothing.
Nylon - is superior in softness; best in shape and texture retention over time.
Carpet is also supported by a cushion pad underneath to give it more softness and durability.
The two types of carpet padding is Rebond and Foam. They are also distinguished by thickness and weight.
Rebond vs. Foam
Rebond - Recycled scraps of high density foam from car seats
Foam - Premium urethane foam
Thickness of Pad: 7/16ths of an inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2 inch
